Role
The Chief Financial Officer/Controller provides strategic and collaborative leadership to the senior staff team in the financial and accounting functions of the agency. The role reports to the CEO and works closely with the COO, and Director of Finance on directing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, ensuring that financial practices align with Today’s Family’s Mission, Vision, Values, and strategic priorities.
Strategic and System Leadership
– Provides strategic and collaborative leadership in the development of business plan strategy, operations, cost optimization, innovation, and efficiency improvement
– Monitors and analyzes trends and data as input to organizational strategy
– Provides Senior Leadership Team and the Board with the information, insights, advice, and opportunities to maintain financial success
– Ensures appropriate analysis of opportunities and risks
– Promotes sustainability in all financial matters

– Work diligently to consistently align financial practices with the agency’s Mission, Vision, and Guiding Values

Community Relations
– Nurture collaborative and strategic relationships with new and existing financial and government funding partners to strengthen our work for children and families
Operational Planning
– Supports the Director of Finance to present a balanced forecast for the organization and create an annual budget that is aligned with strategic plans to the Board’s Finance Committee
– Manages the financial resources of the organization in partnership with senior staff, ensuring financial health and that the organization meets performance targets of funders
– Works collaboratively with Director of Finance and Auditors on finalization of the year-end audit
– Reviews and authorizes government reporting
– Provides senior staff with the information/insights, advice, and opportunities to continue financial success in a period of significant change
– Ensures appropriate analysis of opportunities and risks
– Promotes a sustainability goal in all financial matters
Financial Planning and Oversight
– Adheres to compliance with GAAP and any applicable accounting legislation
– Budget variance analysis
– Responsibility for internal controls
Development, Delivery, and Management of Services and Programs
– Provides financial oversight of programs to ensure the viability of the agency, new programs, and growth and development
– Supports the senior staff team in ensuring that the Board has sound financial data to make decisions and monitor the operation
– Provides quality communications in all responsibilities
