If you swing by the Today’s Family Head Office, you may notice a new addition to the building: a community pantry and fridge, open to all.
The project was built by Community Fridge HamOnt, a volunteer organization that seeks to combat food scarcity in Hamilton. The premise is simple: anyone can drop items off on the newly-built shelves or fridge, and anyone can come and pick up food that they need from the pantry.
There is no registration needed: come and donate what you can, or pick up what you need, at any time.
When asked, Today’s Family CEO Marni Flaherty said that the decision to host the Community Food Corner was a simple one: “We believe in supporting families,” she says. “This is an easy way to do it.”
Where is the Community Food Corner?
The Community Food Corner is located on the south side of the building, located at 44 Greendale Dr. in Hamilton. The parking lot is accessible from Garth St. via a driveway.
