For an evening meal that tastes great, is easy to make, and is full of healthy vegetables, you need not look further than a stir fry! Stir fries are quick and easy to make – it’s not hard to see why they are so popular around the world. But most sauces you buy in the grocery store are high in sodium. Luckily, making your own stir fry sauce is easy. Let us show you how:
The key to a stir fry is the ingredients. When you’re cooking, all of the water and flavours from your vegetables mix together to create new, nuanced flavours. The textures of the veggies change, too, which can help children realize that they actually do like mushrooms and peppers after all!
You shouldn’t feel like you need to stick to our recipe, though. Stir fries can be whatever you want them to be. We like chicken breast because it’s a healthy way to get loads of protein, and because most children like chicken, but you could also use low-fat pork or beef and get the same end result.
You can also experiment with different vegetables. Greens like spinach or cabbage will shrink down while you cook and can be delicious additions to your stir fry. Or, try throwing different kinds of peppers, onions, or broccoli into the mix. No matter what you decide to include, we can guarantee that it will be delicious.
