When it comes to yummy side dishes that kids love to eat, nothing – and we mean nothing – is as easy to make as our couscous. This simple recipe requires three ingredients: couscous, hot water, and green onion. Believe it or not, that’s it!
Children love our couscous because it has a fun texture but is not too flavourful. In fact, you can fit it into most dishes, like our Fish Taco recipe from back in February.
Couscous is an excellent base to both side dishes and entrees. This miniscule pasta is deceptively healthy, providing a good source of both protein and fibre for growing children. Another benefit to the recipe is its versatility: while our video only adds green onions, you could very easily add in your favourite vegetables to the mix, including sweet peppers, peas, cucumbers, or cherry tomatoes. There are countless ways to squeeze couscous into whatever meal you are making.
Couscous is naturally absorbent as well, which makes it an idea base for saucy dishes. Whatever you are spooning on top, your couscous will lock in that scrumptious flavour.
