Licensed Home Child Care offers a range of services including full-time, part-time, shift, weekend and emergency care. This child care option provides a small group setting within the Provider’s home for up to six children from infancy to twelve years of age.
The Provider’s homes are visited regularly by Early Childhood Educators to ensure that the highest standards of health, safety, nutrition and child development are met. Each resident in the home must participate in the screening process.
Providers are trained through our on-site workshops and operate under the professional guidance and supervision of a Today’s Family Licensed Child Care Visitor.
Home Child Care offers a flexible and very personal level of child care. Among the many advantages of this type of care are the small child to Provider ratios, the informal group settings and easy access to the service within, or very near, the child’s neighbourhood.
Parents can choose from many ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Altogether, our caregivers speak a total of 21 different languages. We can help you find the licensed home child care that’s right for your values, your traditions.
Subsidized spaces may be available, and we accept registrations for flexible schedules.
Becoming a Provider
Today’s Family’s goal is to provide quality, trusted care to families. Our Licensed Home Child Care program is flexible – offering full-time, part-time, shift, weekend and emergency care to families across the regions of Hamilton, Halton and Haldimand Norfolk.
Licensed Home Child Care provides a comfortable, home setting for children to learn and grow and for you to have a fulfilling and meaningful career. With smaller group sizes of up to 6 children, you can provide the kind of one-on-one care and an individualized approach to learning that every parent wants for their child.
We’ll introduce you to a Home Visitor with a background in Early Childhood Education, who will help you make the most of your new career with professional support, resources and guidance. They visit regularly to help you ensure that health, safety, nutrition and child development standards are met.
As a Provider, you will use your skills in child care, learn new things and feel good about making an impact in children’s lives. We will give you opportunities to foster and build your skills with children. You will feel fulfilled as you watch children grow and succeed. If you are a parent yourself, you will never miss a moment of your child’s developmental milestones.
Being a Provider of Licensed Home Child Care is a big change, and we’d love to help you take the first steps! Please contact us for more information.

Nanny Referral Program
The Nanny Referral Service is an alternative child care option for parents who wish to have a caregiver come in to their own home to provide care for their children. A Today’s Family Early Learning and Child Care Consultant assists parents in the process of selecting a nanny.
Parents who choose to employ a nanny may do so for a variety of reasons. For instance, it may actually be more cost effective than centre-based or Home Child Care if they have more than three children. In other cases parents may get together to share a nanny between two or more families. Some families may have special needs such as a frail elderly parent, whose care could be included in the nanny’s responsibilities, while others may simply prefer the convenience of personal attention such an option would afford.
